Empower the Body of Christ
"Providing Homes to Empower the Body of Christ to Proclaim and Live out the Gospel"
In the parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) Jesus tells the story of a man in need. After seeing him, the religious leaders chose to ignore him and continued on their way. Compassion was shown by the least likely person, the Samaritan. At the end of the account we are told by Jesus to “go, and do likewise.”
In reaching out to those around us who are in need we understand that the Gospel is first and foremost. Without the Gospel our work would be in vain. “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1) As Christians we are recipients of the greatest gift of mercy and compassion. “He drew me up from out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.” (Psalm 40:2) Because of His atoning sacrifice, Christ is the Solid Rock on which we stand. He is our Firm Foundation. (1 Corinthians 3:10-11)
It is our desire to serve the Lord through serving others. (Matthew 25:35-40) It is our belief at Solid Ground Foundations that the Lord has called us to preach His Gospel. But He also requires us to show compassion to those in need as an act of faith. “Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1:27) To help repair an existing home or provide a new home is our way to “go, and do likewise.”
James 2:15-16 “If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that?”
